Bridging Grant 2019 Announcement
Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) is one of the leading universities in the area of applied sciences in Switzerland. It is also the Leading House for research collaboration with partner institutions in Iran, South Asia region, including: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
One of the recently announced grants by the Leading House South Asia and Iran is called Bridging Grant that offers Swiss researchers who have successfully completed a project with a partner in South Asia or Iran the possibility to continue the joint research in order to prepare a grant application for a full joint research project (for instance, through the Swiss National Science Foundation, EU funding or a national or regional funding body). Bridging grants may also enable the intensification of joint teaching or curriculum development.
All scientists from Swiss federal and cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education, as well as public research institutions, are eligible to apply. The maximum fund per project is 25,000 Swiss francs that will be provided by Leading House South Asia and Iran and the partner university in Iran on a fifty-fifty basis.
The Eligibility criteria are as following (all should be met):
- The Leading House South Asia and Iran accepts grant applications solely from applicants who are permanent residents of Switzerland and have an employment contract with a federal or cantonal university, university of applied sciences or university of teachers’ education in Switzerland.
- Applicants need to have successfully completed (or nearly completed) a research project with an institutional partner in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka, or need to have successfully piloted a joint teaching or a joint curriculum development project with an institution partner in one of the aforementioned countries.
- Applicants must submit their grant application from their individual email account at their Swiss university, university of applied sciences or university of teachers’ education (e.g. firstname.secondname@exampleswissuniversity.ch). Applications sent to us from other types of email addresses will be discarded and the senders will not be notified.
- Matching funding needs to be available.
Timeline
- Launch of this call: 01 November 2019
- Applications will be accepted until: 15 January 2020
- Evaluation and funding decision: End of March 2020
- Notification of applicants: End of April 2020
- Project start date: Must be in 2020
- Project duration: Up to 6 months
