K.N.Toosi University of Technology membership in the Bohemian Forest Ecosystem Data Pool
The Faculty of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering of the KNTU is now a member of the Bohemian Forest Ecosystem Data Pool. The Data Pool has been established as an interdisciplinary, international consortium within the strictly-protected Bavarian Forest and Šumava National Parks and currently comprises 15 active partner institutions from Germany, Czech Republic, Iran and the Netherlands. This was initially established as a cooperation agreement amongst 7 institutions in 2015 which was constantly evolved since then. In its extention form 2021 to 2025 that involves KNTU as the only non-European partner, the Data Pool follows the objective of establishing an Essentian Biodiversity Variables remote sensign laboratory by 1) acquisition and archiving of large field and remote sensing data sets, 2) considering the entire ecosystem as a test environment for the sensors on-board the upcoming DLR/ESA missions, 3) leveraging these multi-source data to study the dynamics of natural and near-natural ecosystems, 4) facilitating a closed collaborative environment for joint research on RS-EBVs, and 5) providing the required facts and hints for the management of protected areas and beyond.
