The Technical University of Sofia and K. N. Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) have resorted their relations by signing MoU, in December 2024. Upon this document, "Sofia and KNTU agree to establish a program for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest" for five years.

The Technical University of Sofia is Bulgaria's largest and foremost academic establishment for higher engineering education. The university is a state-owned entity with academic self-governance.

Founded on 15 October 1945 as part of the Higher Technical School (later renamed to State Polytechnic), it has been an independent institution since 1953, when the Polytechnic was divided into four separate technical institutes. It has had its present name and university status since 21 July 1995 and has 14 main faculties based in Sofia, Plovdiv and Sliven, as well as 3 additional ones with education only in foreign languages.

KNTU and Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) signed an Agreement in 2024 covering materials science and student mobility with guarantee provisions, valid until 2029.

Founded in 1834, ULB is a major research university in Brussels, Belgium. It is known for its strong tradition of academic freedom and excellence, with multiple Nobel Prize laureates among its faculty and alumni. ULB offers a wide range of programs across 12 faculties and hosts a highly international student and research community.

KNTU and Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Mexico) signed an MoU in 2023 for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest, valid until 2028.

Instituto Politécnico Nacional is one of Mexico’s leading public technological universities. Founded in 1936, it is recognized for high-quality education in engineering, science and technology, with a strong focus on innovation, industry collaboration and social impact. IPN serves more than 200,000 students across its academic units.

KNTU and Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (Malaysia) signed an MoU in 2024 covering general cooperation, network security and artificial intelligence, valid until 2029.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) is a leading private university in Malaysia specializing in technology, innovation, computing, engineering and business. It is known for its industry-oriented programs and strong international student community.

KNTU and Samara University (Russia) signed an MoU in 2023 for general academic cooperation.

Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev is a major Russian university with strong expertise in aerospace engineering, rocket technology and related sciences. Founded in 1942, it plays a significant role in Russia’s space and aviation industries and offers more than 250 study programs.

KNTU and Ufa University of Science and Technology (Russia) signed an MoU in 2023 for general academic cooperation.

Ufa University of Science and Technology was established in 2022 through the merger of Bashkir State University and Ufa State Aviation Technical University. It is one of the largest universities in Russia, with strong programs in aviation, engine technology, IT, materials and energy.

KNTU and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Shaoxing University (China) signed an MoU in 2023 focused on artificial intelligence, valid until 2028.

Shaoxing University is a comprehensive public university in Zhejiang Province, China. Its Institute of Artificial Intelligence supports research and education in AI-related fields, contributing to the university’s growing strength in engineering, computer science and interdisciplinary innovation.

KNTU and Xi'an University of Science and Technology (China) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

Xi'an University of Science and Technology is a key university in Shaanxi Province, China, with strengths in safety engineering, mining, materials, energy and related technological fields.

KNTU and Xian Polytechnic University (China) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation (unlimited duration).

Xian Polytechnic University is a public university in Xi'an, China, known for programs in textile engineering, materials, design, information technology and related applied sciences.

KNTU and the University of Salento (Italy) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

The University of Salento is a public university located in Lecce, Italy. It offers a broad range of programs in science, engineering, humanities and social sciences and is active in international research collaboration.

KNTU and Istanbul Aydin University (Turkey) signed a Cooperation Protocol in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030 (extension).

KNTU and Istinye University (Turkey) signed an MoU in 2026 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2031.

KNTU and Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute (Uzbekistan) signed an MoU in 2025 covering general cooperation and aerospace, valid until 2030.

Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute is a higher education institution in Uzbekistan focused on technical and engineering education, contributing to the development of skilled professionals in the region.

KNTU and North Ossetian State University (Russia) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

North Ossetian State University is a public university located in Vladikavkaz, Russia. It offers programs across a wide range of disciplines including sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences.

KNTU and the University of Sulaimani (Kurdistan Region, Iraq) signed an MoU in 2023 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2028.

The University of Sulaimani is the oldest public university in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, founded in 1968 and reopened in 1992. It is a major scientific and cultural center offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

KNTU and Kut University College (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

Kut University College is a higher education institution in Iraq contributing to the development of academic and professional training in the region.

KNTU and the University of Kerbala (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

The University of Kerbala is a public university in Karbala, Iraq, offering a range of programs in sciences, engineering, medicine, humanities and social sciences.

KNTU and Al-Mustagbal University (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

KNTU and Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

KNTU and Al-Iraqia University (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

KNTU and the University of Kufa (Iraq) signed an MoU in 2025 for general academic cooperation, valid until 2030.

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and KN Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) have resorted their relations by signing MoU, in December 2022. Upon this document, "Roorkee and KNTU agree to establish a program for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest" for five years.

Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological education and in engineering, basic and applied research. Since its establishment, the Institute has played a vital role in providing the technical manpower and know-how to the country and in pursuit of research. The Institute ranks amongst the best technological institutions in the world and has contributed to all sectors of technological development.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and KN Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) have resorted their relations by signing a renewal of their previous MoU, in November 2022. Upon this new document, "IITD and KNTU agree to establish a program for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest". The preceding MoU was ratified in 2016 and the parties decided to prolong it in order to develop their scientific cooperation for five more years.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is an autonomous research university based in India. It is counted among the top universities in the world for technical education. It was established in 1961 by an act of the Indian parliament and designated an "Institute of National Importance" in 1963.

KN Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) and Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) have signed an MoU, in November 2022, in order to tighten the relation between two universities. Some of remarkable objectives of this cooperation are: the academic, scientific and technological interactions, the exchange of students and faculty members, joints research in various areas and exchange of experience, materials, publication and information. This MoU will be open to the bilateral activities till 5 five years and can be extended upon mutual consent.

According to Webometrics, the BNTU ranks among 9% of the world's best universities. The Belarusian National Technical University today is a great educational, scientific and entrepreneurship space. It is the leading technical university in Belarus.

K.N.Toosi university of technology has recently signed a cooperation agreement with Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi under Erasmus+ in three fields: Geodesy and Geomatics, Electrical engineering and Material sciences.

Afyon Kocatepe University was founded in 1974 under the affiliation of Anadolu University. In 1992 became a university in Afyonkarahisar. As of January 2021, there are a total of 1029 faculty members and 890 administrative personels. The total number of students is more than 32.000.

The cooperation between two universities has been started since 2016, while we are proud to establish and execute two joint programs with Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN). The first program is a joint Master's program on "Control of Aerospace Systems" co-directed by the faculty of Aerospace Engineering. The second program is commonly conducted in the field of Material Science and Engineering. The interested student can experience a joint program in Masters level in the field of "Advanced Materials Science and Technology".

Further joint programs are designed and accomplished with the assistance of RUDN, and we are pursuing the joint collaborations in various fields. Among them one may name an internship program, through which a number of students had the chance to experience their internship at Russian industries.

The academic relation between KN Toosi University and ITC dates back to 2001 when a joint program named JKIP, and later JIK, had been organized for postgraduate students. In 2017, the cooperation continued in accordance with a new framework, offering 2 majors to the candidates of MSc degree: Remote Sensing (RS) and Geo-information Systems (GIS). According to the program schedule, the students commence the first year in Iran and go to Netherland to finish their final semesters. The program is conducted in English.

ENIB is one of our important partners in France. We are conducting a joint MSc program in Material Sciences through student exchange, and are promoting this program to award double degrees to postgraduate students. The PhD candidate may enroll in a joint supervision Ph.D. program from each university called Cotutelle.

We also are trying to define a framework according to which some Iranian MSc students would be eligible to spend a period of internship in ENIB laboratories.

The faculty of Electrical Engineering admitted the first group of Masters students into this joint program in 2008. This program is a 1+1 program in which the students will complete their first year of studies in Iran and after acquiring an acceptable level of German language, they entered Leibniz University of Hannover to complete their thesis. Upon successful graduation of a number of students, both universities agree to foster the program to a joint supervision Ph.D. program on Power Engineering.

Erasmus+ funding is available for this program exchange of professors and students. Further collaboration on joint research contracts is currently pursued by two universities.

This agreement covers many objectives such as student exchange, sabbatical visits, joint programs etc. Currently, exchange of Masters and Ph.D. students, exchange of faculty members and sabbatical leaves, and a joint workshop has already been accomplished, and Ph.D. Cotutelle program is being envisaged to be conducted in near future.

The MSc joint-program in Biomedical Studies started in 2008 as a 1+1 joint program in which the students start their first year of studies in Iran and accomplish their research in France. Upon successful graduation of a number of students, both universities agree to foster the program to a joint supervision Ph.D. program in this field, and extend the collaboration towards joint research programs funded by two universities or third parties.

The main domain of collaboration is Exchange of students and faculty members in different fields of mutual interest. It is agreed to provide financial support for sabbatical leaves of Ph.D. students in the fields of Engineering and Science. Furthermore, upon completion of some exchange program and joint publications, it is aimed to apply for international grants to international funding agencies to promote joint international research projects.

The main domain of collaboration is Mechanical and Material Engineering codirected by faculty of Mechanical Engineering, university of West Bohemia, and faculty of Material Sciences and Engineering, K. N. Toosi University of Technology. The aim is to promote the joint researches programs through exchange of students, and professors, joint supervision Ph.D. program and joint publications.

After signing the agreement enforced by three amendments about joint programs, student exchange and professors' invitation and lecturing, some exchange programs have been accomplished in terms of internships of Lebanese students into K.N. Toosi University of Technology. Furthermore, Recruitment of Graduate students to study in our university has been accomplished, in which the number of Lebanese student studying in K.N. Toosi University is ever increasing.

The aim of the joint program of K.N. Toosi University of Technology and KAIST on Culture Technology (CT) is to promote research and to educate specialists in crossroad fields joining the technology to the culture. This program is designed to promote the national cultural content providers as the future of nation-wise core key industries through education of interdisciplinary top-level specialists on cutting-edge technology.

N. Toosi University of Technology and Russian New University (RosNOU) have shown their interest to explore cooperation in academic programs, research projects, especially in the fields of Science and Technology, Information, Computer Engineering, Communication and Security Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences as well as institutional development and other areas of mutual interest. Hence, the universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 for future cooperation.
